The book ‘This Is What Happy Looks Like‘ by Jennifer E. Smith is the last book I read. Here are some of my thoughts on this marvelous book.
I fell in love with this book the second it caught my eye. The title of the book itself kinda drew me in. If you’ve read my previous post Quintessential Bookworm, you know just how much I love reading, and that at the moment, I’m reading books which fall under the Young Adult genre.
Well, I love books with happy endings. I mean, who doesn’t (except really weird, scary, sadistic people)? I usually like my books light. The title ‘This Is What Happy Looks Like’ promised me EXACTLY that. That’s what made me pick the book up in the first place.
Then, I went on to reading its blurb, and that was it. The book had fixed its claws into me – I knew I just had to read the book. It talked about how a small town girl begins a relationship with someone she’s never met (like, she has no idea who this person is). It talked about life changing secrets and mistakes – major mistakes – which actually might turn out to be blessings in disguise after all.
There’s too much I want to write about this book and I’ll never finish writing this post. So I’ll cut things short. This is an excerpt from the book which made my smile stretch from one ear to the other. It still makes me smile every time I read it.
“What does happy look like?
Sunrises over the harbor. Ice cream on a hot day. The sound of the waves down the street. The way my dog curls up next to me on the couch. Evening strolls. Great movies. Thunderstorms. A good cheeseburger. Fridays. Saturday’s. Wednesdays, even. Sticking your toes in the water. Pajamas pants. Flip-flops. Swimming. Poetry. The absence of smiley faces in an email.
What does it look like to you?”
Well, that was it for this post. Let me know if you’re hooked to this book just like I recently was. If you’ve already read this book, I’d love to know your thoughts on it! I’d even love some recommendations on which book to read next!

Seems like a positive book. I have done some of the things you refer to for happiness, but will make an effort to do more to brighten up a gloomy day: Sunrises over the harbor. Ice Evening strolls. Sticking your toes in the water.
