A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

A Thousand Splendid Suns
‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Husseini

One of my friends read this book 2 years ago and was (still is) hell bent on making me read it as well. I’ve been meaning to get around to doing exactly that, but since I know it’s quite a heavy read, I’m just looking for the perfect timing to dive into it.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up

Perfect (Flawed, #2)
‘Perfect’ by Cecelia Ahern

I simply gobbled up the first book of this series, Flawed. The entire concept of the dystopian world featuring in this novel is mind-boggling. I remember staying up late to finish Flawed and being so frustrated when I realized that the next book was yet to come out. Yet, when the novel finally did come out, I just never got around to reading it. I think I have such high expectations in my mind for this book now, that I’m scared that it won’t be that perfect (…pun intended?)

Girl Online Going Solo (Girl Online, #3)
‘Girl Online: Going Solo’ by Zoe Sugg

This series was one that I fell head over heels in love with as a (naïve) little teenager. The entire relationship shared between the protagonist Penny and her bae, in hindsight, was just too perfect to be true now that I come to think about it. Anyway, yes, I was gaga over the first 2 books. Then comes a very large time gap between the second and third books and I think I just grew up? I think I was initially excited for this novel, but because of the somewhat negative reviews and feedback that I received, I decided to not read it at all.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read

The Book Thief
‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak

Just the title of this novel intrigues me. I’ve been meaning to read this book since forever, but something just always kept on coming up – a book with a new shiny cover or one that absolutely everyone on instagram was talking about. So yeah, I guess that’s what happened.

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)
‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ by J. K. Rowling

I feel like I’m gonna receive a lot of boos for this, but I mean, come on. At least I’m being honest…right? So this is one series that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has read. And yet, I think that the last book that I read in this series was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I just grew up watching the movies and I’ve seen them so many times, that I guess that at some point I just figured I wouldn’t read the books. Now I know, thanks to my friends’ constant insisting, that the movies are nothing like the books, but still. I don’t think I’m budging on this one.

Wonder
‘Wonder’ by R. J. Palacio

Lemme just say that this is one movie that I can watch again, and again, and AGAIN. I always find myself mesmerized by the end of it with tears rolling down my face. There’s just something about it that strikes a chord each and every bloody time! And yet, I haven’t read the book. I think that might change soon enough though. My younger sister just bought the book and I have every intention to snatch it out of her hands as soon as she’s done reading it.

If I'm Being Honest
‘If I’m Being Honest’ by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

Gah! There’re just so many! Well, I narrowed it down to this one ‘cuz I guess I’ll be hitting this novel next. First of all, have you seen the cover!? It’s just so aesthetic! I think this is one of the main reasons that I’m looking forward to reading so much. All the positive reviews are just additional factors, to be honest. I have a feeling that I’m gonna remember this novel for a long while…

Oh dear, I’m the same with Harry Potter! Only difference is I managed to finish Goblet of Fire, but that’s about where I stopped. 😂 I did enjoy the books, but I also grew up watching the movies and I feel like I’m just not as connected to the characters as everyone else seems to be. I’m more of a Percy Jackson and the Olympians kind of girl. 😊
