Dolphins, Poly Art and Adobe Illustrator

I’m pretty sure there are millions of others who are probably losing their minds just like I am right now. Being stuck at home for the past week (and probably staying stuck for I don’t even know how much longer) has made me realize just how much I took the little things for granted. Like meeting up with friends, going to the movies, going out for a short drive or ice cream, or even hanging out with my cousins who live less than a hundred yards away. While the initial couple of days were fun – not having to do anything and spending hours on Netflix, right now I would give anything to be able to spend time out of my house.

Since I’m growing crankier by the day with absolutely nothing to look forward to or work towards (no more high school for me…YAY!), someone suggested me to finally get back to Illustrator and try my hand at it again considering how I’d pretty much forgotten how to use all the tools and techniques. Since he’s just started learning himself, we decided to have this challenge kinda thing where we chose an animal (this time a dolphin) and created an image with the help of Illustrator. I’m actually a pretty competitive individual by nature so that fact that there was a prize involved (loser has to buy 2 waffles for the winner) I actually put in some effort.

Poly art has always been one of my favorite areas in creating images. Using the pen tool to first trace out an image or shape and then creating polygons inside it has always been somewhat therapeutic. The fact that the end product also turns out quite decent is another plus point. As a result, I decided to create dolphins and use poly art in the process. The images I came up with were, of course, pretty basic, but I’m proud of the fact that I actually ended up completing the entire project.

Here’s what I came up with!

I know it’s nowhere near as good as some of the other poly art images out there, but oh well. At least I’m half way out of my creativity slump. Let’s see what else my friend manages to encourage me to do.

Let me know if you have any ideas on what I could make on Illustrator. I’m basically  just playing around right now and I’m honestly in dire need of good ideas!
