Top 5 Popular Books I Haven’t Read Yet

Top Five Tuesday was created by Bionic Book Worm.  Head over to her page to check out her amazing posts!

As an avid reader, I have a never ending TBR. There are just so many books on that list that I often end up forgetting all about a few of them. That is, until I hear someone talk about a particular one or read a great book review. And then I feel bad for not having read that book…but oh well, there are only so many hours in a day.

However, I absolutely hate it when there’s this super popular book that everyone seems to be talking about and I feel completely lost or not a part of the conversation. I even feel kinda guilty for not having that book, but there’s always a weird reason behind it. Either I didn’t like the cover of the novel (I know, I’m weird like that), maybe I read a terrible review on it somewhere, perhaps I’ve already seen its movie adaptation, or I was simply not in the mood for that particular genre when it came out. And once I make my mind up about a book (anything in life, really), it’s kinda hard to make me budge.

As a result, I’ve skipped out on quite a few popular books out there and well, here are the top 5 ones that I hear about every now and then…

1. The last few books in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter Paperback Boxed Set, Books 1-7 by J. K. Rowling, Mary ...

I get quite a lot of hate for this one from all my friends and family. They claim that they, non-book-lovers, have read this series so many times themselves that the fact that I haven’t read the entire series, makes me non-book-lover too. The thing is, I grew up watching the HP movies! I’ve seen them one too many times and I’m sure that I’m gonna binge all of them soon (pretty soon, thanks to quarantine). As a person, I really can’t read a book if I’ve already seen the movie. I just can’t okay! I already know too much and can’t seem to concentrate.

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Book Thief: Markus Zusak: 9780375842207: Books

This was one of the first books that I ever put on my TBR. I’ve heard so much about it, but surprisingly don’t know that much about the plot – which is a great thing. However, since I know it’s such a great book, the thought of reading it is kinda daunting – what if it falls short, doesn’t meet my high expectations and I don’t like it that much? I guess this is the reason why I’ve just been putting this read off since the beginning of times.

3. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

This book keeps popping up so often that I’m surprised I haven’t just read it already. Tbh, I don’t even know why I didn’t read it in the first place! I remember being intrigued by the title of the novel and even reading quite a few good reviews on it…Now that I think about it, might just give this book a shot in the upcoming days…

4. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

I wanted to read this book for a really long time and was absolutely dying to get my hands on a copy. Instead, since the library didn’t have this book at the moment but instead had another book written by Saenz, ‘The Inexplicable Logic of My Life’, I decided to read the other book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters, but didn’t really enjoy the ending. As a result, I think I steered myself clear of this book and never ended up actually reading it.

5. Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Okay so i haven't been able to post for well,.. | Frst Maëlin | VK
I read the other series written by Sarah J. Maas – A Court Of Thorns and Roses – and immediately fell in love with her work. I completely lost myself to the characters and the plot. I always planned on reading this series of hers as well, but there are just so many books that I feel like I’m gonna lose myself to this one as well, and completely forget about the outside world that exists (actually…might be a good time to get around to reading this book now). I’ve seen so many people say such amazing thing about this book that I wish I had the guts to read it, but I guess I’m not strong enough to battle my way through this large series…

These were the top 5 popular books that I haven’t read yet – Please don’t hate me!! What about you? What are some popular books you haven’t read? I’d love to know and perhaps check these books out myself if I haven’t already…Thanks for your time!
