Hello everyone! Hope you all are keeping safe during these uncertain times. Since I’ve had so much free time on my hands, I feel like I’m literally gobbling books down one after the other (not that I’m complaining!). And then the other day, I heard news of Percy Jackson finally being adapted into the TV series we all deserve and I think I kinda lost it. I plunged myself into the PJO world all over again and decided to just live there for a while. I might’ve even purposefully forgotten about thus real world all together for a little while tbh. I even dream of going on quests with Percy and Annabeth at this point (I’m sure I’m not the only one).
Anyway, so when I came across this book tag, I absolutely knew that I would have to do this. Cuz I mean, why not? I found this tag on A Little But A Lot’s blog and you should definitely check out her post as well!
ZEUS, THE KING SKY GOD – FAVORITE BOOK?
Favorite book? I mean, seriously? I think that’s a question you never ask a bookworm. How am I supposed to narrow it all down to one book? Instead of picking out my one favorite book, I think I’ll just go with the book I liked best among the most recent ones I’ve read. So I think this one goes to Rules For Being A Girl by Candace Bushnell and Katie Cotugno. (Click here for the book review)
POSEIDON, GOD OF THE OCEAN – A BOOK THAT DROWNED YOU IN FEELS?
I lot of the recent books that I read drowned me in quite a lot of feels. But the first book that popped in my mind for this category is Far From The Tree by Robin Benway.
HADES, GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD – FAVORITE DARK BOOK?
Gods, I don’t think I read many dark books. I think this is a sign that I should start though. Let’s see… A book that I found quite unique due to its writing style and dark theme was Identical by Ellen Hopkins.
HERA, THE QUEEN GODDESS OF FAMILY AND MARRIAGE – CUTEST COUPLE?
Honestly? Thanks to Annabeth and Hera’s feud, I don’t really like Hera all that much, but for the sake of this tag, I shall comply… A book which has one of the cutest couple is Field Notes On Love by Jennifer E. Smith.
ATHENA, GODDESS OF WISDOM AND BATTLE STRATEGY – FAVORITE INTELLIGENT HEROINE?
Each one of them would be my choice of answer! All of the heroines are so well crafted that I think all of them deserve to be mentioned here. I’ll go with Mena from Girls With Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young though because of the amazing and unique plot of the novel. It completely blew my mind away.
GAIA, THE GREAT MOTHER – FAVORITE WORLD BUILDING BOOK?
Gaia isn’t exactly my favorite (if you know, you know), but oh well. I really really liked the world Victoria Aveyard built for her series Red Queen (fight me).
APHRODITE, GODDESS OF LOVE AND BEAUTY – MOST GORGEOUS COVER?
I know it’s a fatal flaw, but I find myself drawn to books with aesthetic covers. I know, I know…you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover blah blah. But I can’t help myself! If the cover’s beautiful, I’m more likely to read it than if it’s not. Thankfully, most of the books in the YA category are absolutely gorgeous – the point where I could stare at them all day! Tough there are so many, I think I’ll go with Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott.
ARIES, GOD OF WAR AND BATTLE – MOST VIOLENT BOOK YOU’VE READ?
I don’t really think I’ve read any violent books per say… Like, yeah, there’s been the occasional fighting here and there…but violent? I don’t know. Just for the sake of this category though, I’ll pick Flawed by Cecelia Ahern because let’s be honest. That branding process was just gruesome.
HEPHAESTUS, GOD OF BLACKSMITHS AND FLAME – HOTTEST BOOK YOU’VE EVER READ?
Hottest like erotic? Hmmm… I think my teenage Wattpad self is gonna choose this one. I think everyone had that phase where all of us were completely crazy about the After series by Anna Todd. And then it went ahead and got published! I think we can all agree that the movie adaption was an absolute disaster though, so there’s that.
ARTEMIS, THE VIRGIN GODDESS OF THE HUNT – A HEROINE WHO DOESN’T NEED A MAN TO SAVE HER?
This one, hands down, goes to Starr Carter from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. This girl killed it and she did not need a man to save her. No siree. She was a phenomenal character and I’m glad I got to see the world through her eyes. Especially now, with all this hate in the world.
APOLLO, GOD OF MUSIC, LIGHT, AND HEALING – A BOOK THAT IS THE EXCEPTION TO A GENRE YOU DON’T LIKE?
I don’t really read non-fiction. Especially not autobiographies. But when I came across Becoming by Michelle Obama, I just could not pick it down – I was transfixed. Yes, it was a struggle to get through it and I took way more time than I usually did to complete reading the book, but I’m glad I did because I think I’ve grown as a person and respect the Obama family even more than I initially did (if that’s even possible).
HERMES, GOD OF MESSAGES, TRAVELERS, AND THIEVES – A BOOK THAT STOLE YOUR HEART?
I loved everything about this book. EVERYTHING. I wanted to be one of the team members and stand there, should to shoulder, ready to stand up for one of my girls. Guessed the book? We Are The Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian, of course! (Click here for the book review)
HESTIA, GODDESS OF HEARTH AND HOME – A BOOK YOU GO BACK TO FOR COMFORT?
I thought I’d try and not mention the Percy Jackson series throughout this tag because let’s be honest, then I’d mention one of the books for each of the tags and that would just be a disaster and no fun at all. But this one called for it. Comfort book? Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan coming through!
DEMETER, GODDESS OF AGRICULTURE AND FERTILITY – FAVORITE BOOK SETTING?
All books set next to the beach or a water body are my absolute favorite. There’s something about the water that just makes everything better. Some books that fit that category are Meet Me At Midnight by Jessica Pennington (click here for the book review), The Rest Of the Story by Sarah Dessen and Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley.
DIONYSUS, GOD OF WINE AND FEASTING – A BOOK YOU ARE MOST ANTICIPATING IN THE NEXT YEAR?
I don’t really know…all of them?
HECATE, GODDESS OF CROSSROADS AND MAGIC – FAVORITE MAGICAL READ?
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling, duh. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. Cliffhangers should be illegal according to me.
NEMESIS, GOD OF REVENGE – FAVORITE REVENGE STORY?
Revenge? Woah. Sounds scary. Lemme think… One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus was kinda a revenge story right? Right? That’s the only one I could think of. Sorry…
And oh my gods. That’s more than a thousand words. Gosh, so long. If you’ve survived this long and made it here, congratulations and thank you – you’re an amazing person! I now tag YOU! I’d love to see the books that you choose for this category and maybe even read them as well.
